What Is Crime Watch?Crime Watch is an information network for alerting neighbors to crimes committed in the neighborhood. We share this information so that neighbors can be vigilant and take precautions. We do not investigate the crimes. We support the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's efforts by distributing Crime Watch materials. To Report a Crime or Suspicious ActivityDo not approach anyone to investigate criminal or suspicious activity. Withdraw to a safe distance and call the IMPD dispatch immediately at 327-3811. Every second counts! Call 911 only if there is a life-threatening emergency or a crime in progress. After calling IMPD, tell your Block Captain what has occurred. The Block Captain will see that the basic facts are shared with your neighbors (protecting your privacy) so everyone can be alert and report to IMPD anything they may have seen recently. Back to top Information Needed About SuspectsThis is the type of information law enforcement will ask about. Description: Approximate age, race, sex, height, weight, unique characteristics (scars, nose, jewelry, etc.), color and type of clothing. Compare your height and weight with the suspect's. Vehicle: License number, make, model, color, any noticeable damage. Direction and Mode of Travel: Did suspect leave by car, truck, or on foot?
