Governance

NFHA is a voluntary, democratically run organization governed by the bylaws of Normandy Farms Homeowners Association, Inc. It is registered as a community organization with the Metropolitan Development Commission.

NFHA advocates for the interests of Normandy Farms homeowners in matters such as zoning and traffic. It also helps organize voluntary activities for the benefit of the community.

NFHA does not:

  • Tell homeowners what they may do or not do with their home or property
  • Issue liens
  • Force residents to participate or pay dues
  • Enforce covenants
  • Enforce architectural standards

Membership in NFHA is open to dues-paying owners of occupied homes within the Normandy Farms subdivision.

The membership meets once a year in October to share information of interest to the neighborhood and to elect officers and directors. A slate of candidates is presented and nominations are taken from the floor. Anyone may attend the meeting, but only dues-paying members of NFHA may vote.

The NFHA Board of Directors meets quarterly to conduct the business of the association.

History

NFHA held its first official meeting November 11, 1997, at the Pike Township Library, with 40 residents in attendance. Topics of discussion were the proposed rezoning of the property at the corner of 79th and Marsh by Traders Point Christian Church and the need for neighborhood snow removal.

The NFHA Secretary keeps a notebook of minutes and other documents that capture the history of the organization.
